My family and I have had a wonderful past 24 hours which included me playing for two Christmas services and then a Christmas lunch at my brother's place. I snuck myself in a last minute Christmas gift and purchased the 1902 ST. EUCAIRE METZ CAVAILLÉ-COLL sample set by Milan Digital Audio. I love the sound of Cavaillé-Coll organs and they are quite versatile in handling a wide variety of repertoire. Whilst only a modestly sized two-manual instrument, I think it still sufficiently encapsulates the French symphonic sound and tonal palette. Expect a lot more from me on this wonderful instrument!
The piece I'm playing is an arrangement of the traditional Basque carol "Gabriel's Message" by Aubrey Tucker. You may wish to obtain the score on from Score Exchange. It's a seemingly haunting and melancholic tune but gives a perfect opportunity to show off the Récit 8'+2-2/3' and Hautbois 8' solo registrations. The accompaniment is the 8' Salicional on the GO.
